Anglers and their Involvement During Collaborative Projects:
We work closely with the angling community, particularly the specialist predator anglers Norwich & District Pike Club & Pike Angling Club of Great Britain (PACGB & NDPC) to deliver larger scale projects on apex predators. This relationship has seen completion of several projects, including one of the largest studies on northern pike in the UK in recent years, culminating in peer reviewed publications and reports to the Environment Agency who funded the work.
- Norfolk Flyfishers - to capture 300 large roach for a tracking and telemetry study in a chalk river
- NDPC assisting in surveying pike in private broads
- Local angler-caught brown trout for migration and movement study on the River Wissey
- Prymnesium Project. Multidisciplinary project involving John Innes as lead partners led by Professor Rob Field; EA, for funding and field assistance; Broads Angling Services Group, a community interest company with proven track record of delivery on fisheries issues,assisting with local knowledge and field work; NDPC assisting with filed work aspects including sampling; Fishtrack provided advise and support to the p[roject on matters of aquatic ecology and fisheries
- Norfolk Anglers Conservation Association (NACA) working with barbel migrancy project
- NDPC collaborative pike tagging and population study, River Bure
- Biological control of signal crayfish by european eel. In collaboration with the EA; Loughborough University, led by Professor Steve Rice; Fishtrack
- Barbel Society and local anglers catching barbel on the River Teme for a tracking study of fish dispersal and movement assessment. Supported by the Ea, Bournemouth University, Severn Rivers Trust and the Barbel Society
- Bream tracking study in the Norfolk Broads, assisted by members of the Trinity Partnership Fisheries Group to look at usage of the broad and shoal faithfulness of conspecifics
- River Severn Predator study in conjunction with Bournemouth University, EA, Severn Rivers Trust and partners. Assessment of movement and behaviour of top freshwater apex predator, angler perception and habits
