Fishtrack are experienced in the development and deployment of technologies used to monitor fish populations. As such, we have designed and developed systems to suit a variety of applications, sometimes merging existing technologies to mutual benefit. We supply component kits through to complete systems and we offer a full installation service.
We build Fixed Station Sonar Assessment modules (FSSA) for Government Agencies such as EA and NE as well as for other clients. These modules comprise of fully vented tamper/vandal proof cabinets and can be provided complete and ready to go or with bare fittings, enabling the user to complete the fitting-out. FSSA modules can be supplied with floating pontoon structures to enable deployment on lakes and rivers away from land.
Remote Alternative Power Systems.
We design, build and supply alternative power modules for fisheries monitoring or for powering other monitoring devices. Solar and fuel cell technology powered devices can be configured and built to your specification or we can design for you. We supply solar module arrays from 90w to 3-4KW complete with cabling, framing, fixings, controllers etc. We also produce hybrid systems. Full installation service is available on all of these systems.
Remote Data Access.
Remote access is far more than seeing your data. In some configurations, it means benefiting from high levels of data security (probably one of the most valuable components of any project) and enables system integrity verification and faster response times, all contributing to enhanced continuity and reduced manpower and carbon footprint.
Our collaboration with data communications companies has resulted in options for data access remotely via WebLink with capability to data dump via csv. We also provide system analysis and graphical interfaces.
Recent developments with our associates in the USA have resulted in mobile telecommunications access to data and permit system interrogation and event notification.
Fishtrack supply equipment for Government Agencies, Academia, NGO’s, Rivers Trusts, Societies, Local Councils, as well as Civil Engineering and Utility Companies.
Our Technical Section can build bespoke solutions to specific monitoring problems. Our fully equipped workshops can build to order or we can supply off-shelf for some items. We build RFID systems for varying needs, from simple short term monitoring of small streams to larger more complex projects that run over many years. We develop all weather solutions, enabling reliable operation of equipment in the field as well as kiosk based set-ups where power and site conditions permit, such as large fish passes.
RFID Systems
Fishtrack only build radio frequency identification (RFID) systems utilising Passive Induction Technology (PIT) tags from reputable manufacturers that have a proven track record in this field, and with whom we have developed strong working relationships. These systems have several advantages over other technologies. They are relatively inexpensive and use tags which are exceptional value. This approach enables large studies to be carried out on smaller budgets. Additionally, since the tags are inert for most of the time, the studies are not time limited. Such systems are very effective at monitoring fish passage, fish pass efficiency, population studies etc. Our Technical Section usually builds to order, so bespoke requests are seldom an issue. We have developed several integrated modules for fitment to fish passes with a variety of options.
