Fishtrack

Applying novel and traditional techniques to turn

fisheries' problems into solutions

Fishtrack are experienced in the design and construction of river restoration or rehabilitation projects in a variety of river systems. We have experience of many enhancement techniques and staff have won awards for restoration projects.

We are able to provide walk-over and report surveys through to design, planning advice, habitat creation projects, supervision of construction through to completion, on time and within budget.

A variety of techniques  are deployed in restoring rivers back to a more natural profile. These vary from brushwood piling to gravel berms. We construct riffles and glides, point bars and hollows. We re-profile banksides and install coir rolls and cherry stakes. Re-structuring straight runs into meanders and plant out bankside vegetation is all in a days work. Installation of simple structures such as willow flow deflectors can have a significant positive impact on badly affected stretches where there is a lack of flow diversity. We also install fencing to riparian margins to reduce grazing pressure and allow natural plant growth and insect life to flourish. We provide walk-over surveys and back this up with comprehensive reports and recommendations.
