The catchment management based approach has been adopted by the statutory bodies representing the environment, Environment Agency and Natural England amongst others. This approach is a method of delivery of wider benefits to the aquatic environment, encompassing the river, river corridor and it's associated flood plains. Catchment Management is all about partnerships and seeking delivery of wider benefits through such partnerships. Part of this work involves stakeholder engagement. Fishtrack have a history of stakeholder engagement from community projects through to collaborative research with the angling community and wider environment groups. We have involvement with Rivers Trusts, NGO's,Wildlife groups, Community Interest environmental groups, academia and Government Agencies. We seek opportunities to bring people together from different organisations for the common good of the environment and to the benefit of all.
We seek to deliver using information from local people as well as from scientists and stakeholders. This approach delivers more than traditional approaches on a wider scale.
We undertake Habitat mapping, River corridor surveys, Fishery surveys and all at catchment level as well as local level when point source issues can cause specific issues. We carry out invertebrate surveys to determine water quality and habitat quality as well as undertaking River habitat surveys (RHS). We carry out Walkover surveys of all types and produce detailed plans and recommendations based upon our findings. We work with stakeholders to find solutions not just to catchment based issues but also at local level as well.
We produce interim and summary reports to deadlines and within budgets and ensure valuer for money. We also prepare and deliver on our findings, usually with cooperative involvement of local stakeholders to provide cost effective solutions at a wider level.
